10 Twitter Commandments For Marketing

  1. Follow people who maybe interested in your products, services or your cause. (You are not Lady Gaga, you will not have a million followers overnight by just having an account)

  2. When you start to get followers, do them the favor back! Follow them.

  3. Start having real conversations with your followers- mention them in your posts. Eg.

  4. Retweet! Retweet! Retweet! Never forget to retweet something that your followers may find interesting.

  5. Be engaging but don't over post! Stop setting your automated Twitter tweet services to tweet every 5 mins! If your followers want variety they may stop following you.
  1. Stop wasting your money paying for followers! We all know there are a many services out there that promise to give you followers. Remember you want people could one day be a potential lead.
  1. Give your Twitter followers sometime to develop a relationship with you. Don't expect them to love you right away.

  2. Stop posting the same thing on your Twitter and Facebook Account! It is real tempting to do this because it saves time but they are separate mediums so they must be used differently.

  3. Don't panic if you are loosing followers! Provided you are interacting with your followers, those who leave could be spammers or may not be interested in what you have to offer.

  4. Relax! Have fun! We know it's crucial that you succeed in your new role as the Social Media Manager but it's only a social network after all!
